WindStream Communications Specialist I/II-Translations in Tampa, Florida
The Voice and Data Translations Specialist I/II is responsible for Voice Translations & Data Translations that encompass the following order types: Disconnect, Port Out, Escalations, Suspends, Restores & Hot tickets. This is sometimes a lead position which will require the ability to decipher unusual customer configurations and process them to completion. In addition, train and mentor other translations specialists, process and procedure improvement and development, and insure proper handling of escalations with little or no supervision.
Position Activities: * Verify services to be disconnected for the order and if they are in use, as well as, ensure all necessary equipment, configurations & translations are removed. * Disconnect services as requested by the customer or collections team without causing unnecessary network outages or leave unnecessary translations behind * Ensure detailed notes are on each order as instructed and the order is updated properly if needed. * Ensure services are fully restored if disconnect request has changed, or cancelled. * Working knowledge of all switches and the products provisioned in those switches. Must have the ability to perform basic troubleshooting to ensure restoral of services if needed. * Working knowledge of Windstream equipment from the core elements to the point of customer termination in either co-location areas or switch sites. * Perform other duties as needed and/or assigned. Skills – Essential/Preferred: * Working knowledge of Circuit Design and Transport equipment such as DACs and Muxes * Working knowledge of Network Elements such as Switches and Routers * Working knowledge of basic Voice and Data products and services * Working knowledge of WINDSTREAM equipment * Knowledge of troubleshooting circuits & equipment in a fast paced environment * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to not technical personnel. * Minimum 2 - 5 years’ experience in telecommunications in a technical role.
Associate Degree in a technical discipline and 3-4 years technical/telephony experience with 2 years directly related to the job; or 5 years of directly related telephony experience, or an equivalent combination of education and directly related telephony experience.
