General Summary: Windstream Solution Engineering is responsible for higher level engineering of complex networking solutions geared around enterprise solutions, security, wireless and VoIP engineering of customer networks. Post-sales engineer oriented role with wide ranging travel responsibilities with the ability and experience to quickly evaluate the installations of networking solutions focused on the hospitality market. Must have extensive experience designing, implementing and supporting solutions with practical hands-on experience in networking (Cisco, HP, Juniper), security (firewalls-Juniper and Cisco), Wireless networks (Cisco, Ruckus) and secure environments (802.1x implementations/ACS/Radius.)
Job Responsibilities: * Primary responsibility will be the implementation and support of leading edge enterprise solutions. * Responsible for the analysis, administration, design, implementation and support of voice, video, and/or data communications networks. * Analyzes, administers and maintains voice, video, and/or data communications networks. * Manages the usage and performance of voice, video and/or data communications networks. * Design and Maintains network security and ensures compliance with security policies and procedures. * Evaluates hardware and software, including peripheral, output, and related equipment. * Participates in the development and implementation of network-related procedures and standards. * Participates in, and may lead major network installations and upgrades. * Interfaces with vendors to ensure appropriate resolution during network outages or periods of reduced performance. * Develops and implements testing strategies and document results. * Provides advice and training to end-users. * Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. * Provides work leadership to less-experienced network personnel and will have supervisory responsibilities on a project basis. * Engineer will serve as a technical team or task leader. * Must maintain current knowledge of relevant hardware and software applications as assigned. * Participates in special projects as required. Work performed with minimal supervision. * Guided by policies and precedent. * Individual contributors may function in a project leadership role. * Will represent organization with peers in outside organizations. * Approximately 50-75% travel is required. Preferred Work Experience/Skills: * 8 years of applicable experience in network implementation and support. If not degreed, 10 years of directly related experience in network installation and support. * Comprehensive knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network implementation, design and support. * Comprehensive knowledge of the design and installation of routers, switches, firewalls, wireless controllers, wireless access points, cabling, related network hardware and software. * Comprehensive knowledge of desktop and server operating systems and applications. * Knowledge of applicable laws. * CCNP preferred, or equivalent work experience * Experience with Fluke Airmagnet
Minimum Requirements: College degree in Engineering or a related field and 2-4 years professional level experience; or 6 years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.
