WindStream Communications Specialist I-IT Tech Support in Greenville, South Carolina

The IT Technical Support Specialist I supports Windstream’s internal customers by providing technical guidance and direction to users and troubleshooting problems. This position is responsible for PC installations; upgrades and repairs, and supports PC hardware, architecture, components and peripherals (ex. desktops, laptops, printers, tablets, smart phones, etc). Additionally, the IT Technical Support Specialist I maintains the network or PC operating environment by monitoring performance and identifying hardware, software and configuration issues and assisting in deriving solutions. The ideal candidate will be able to instruct users on advanced features/functions of business and multiple applications software; resolve high impact and/or complex, chronic or cross-functional problems; perform miscellaneous technical and administrative tasks in support of the IT environment; and will monitor and maintain assigned corporate inventory metrics.


Essential Functions: * Managing Windstream’s PC assets, including * Receiving inventory and inventory management * Imaging PC assets with corporate image(s) * Deploying PC assets to Windstream internal customers * Troubleshooting PC issues for Windstream internal customers * Ordering parts/components for damaged PC assets * Repairing damaged PC assets * Working with Dell warranty to effect repairs to damaged PC assets * Troubleshooting and conducting tests to determine whether equipment, software, or procedures are operating as expected * Working in conjunction with other IT personnel to resolve problems as quickly as possible * Must be able to relate complicated computer issues to non-technical people throughout all areas of Windstream * Ability to identify network, software and basic hardware problem sources and apply appropriate corrective procedures * Attention to Detail & organizational skills * Logical problem-solving skills that follow a rational approach to problem resolution * Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills * Customer service oriented * Install and support network hardware infrastructure (LAN/WAN) * Install and support hardware/software on corporate personal computers * Install and support hardware/software on servers * Instruct users on advanced features/functions of business and multiple software applications * Troubleshoot issues over the phone using remote control utilities leading to resolution * Participate in projects as required * On call may be required on rotating basis * Some overtime required * Some travel required * Valid driver’s license is required * Performs other duties as assigned Preferred Skills: * Knowledge of server class and workstation class electronic components * Knowledge of Windows-based Desktop and Laptop platforms * Knowledge of MAC Desktop and Laptop platforms * Knowledge of Mobility platforms (Smart phones and tablets) * Knowledge of Operating Systems including MS Server 2008, MS Windows 7, MAC and iOS, Linux, Android * Knowledge of PC applications including MS Office 2013, Office 365, MS Outlook, McAfee * Knowledge of basic LAN/WAN principles * Knowledge of printer features and functions HP, Dell, Xerox * Knowledge of PC hardware imaging technologies * Knowledge of automated software distribution using SCCM, Matrix42 Desired Qualifications: * Network Certification * A Certification * Microsoft MCSE/MCSA/MCP/MCDST * Apple Certifications

Minimum Requirements:

Associate Degree in technical field and 4 years directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and/or directly related Technical experience required. Bachelors degree may be substituted for some experience as deemed appropriate.
